Our Mission
Siblings of Murdered Siblings is a group of siblings, cousins and friends around the world who have lost either a brother, sister or a loved one to murder. Resources are limited, and many of us are alone. Our goal is to change this, to help improve the lives of those impacted, giving survivors a voice and a shoulder to lean on in their new, endless journey of grief.
We assist survivors by providing Survivor Care Packages to either those going to trial and to others who never even had an arrest.
As we grow nationally, each state will start with a local chapter to hold a one-hour meeting once a month, and hopefully, some fun outings (i.e., bowling, bbq’s, etc.).
Weekly one-hour support/Q&A sessions will be held each Tuesday at 7:30 PM Eastern, via Zoom. Check out our Facebook page for the link. We will eventually have a website full of resources, and hope to soon be sponsoring events such as annual walks to raise awareness and take a stand against domestic violence.
We will be applying for grants and asking the public for donations, and to have survivor assistance programs where we will fund for a survivor to receive therapy services, cover court fees, provide Survivor Care Packages, and to pay for crime scene clean-up. Also, the donations will go toward the necessary items needed for our organization. All other proceeds will be invested back into the 501(c)(3) Siblings of Murdered Siblings.
Our Vision
The vision of SOMS is to develop and promote restorative justice in criminal justice systems around the United States. We are convinced that restorative justice is an important contemporary expression of timeless standards of justice. As we grow, we will continue to expand, hopefully into major cities, starting with those with the highest crime rates. We will also aim to create crime prevention programs for at-risk youths.
